Position Summary

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is play a key role in implementing the career services initiatives of the School of Business Administration’s Graduate Business Programs (GBP).

Responsibilities include:
Student Support

  • Provide resume reviews and career services advising to graduate business students in one-on-one advising and via email.
  • Maintain accurate records of student advising and workshop activity in the career services management system (CareerForward).
  • Assist in development and delivery of workshops to prepare students for career success.
  • Partner with career services team to plan and host career fairs, employer sessions and other events.
  • Promote job and internship positions to students.
  • Demonstrate respect and confidentiality while interacting with students.

Employer Relations

  • Input employer profiles and jobs in CareerForward.
  • Coordinate diplomatically with employers about job postings and their recruiting needs, taking initiative to get necessary information.

Other Responsibilities

  • Other tasks and projects as assigned by career services staff.
  • Actively participate as a member of the Graduate Business Programs team for the purpose of achieving cross-functional objectives and metrics throughout the student cycle (admissions, student services & career management).
Minimum Qualifications from Classification

- Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

- An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR

- Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology AND one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
  • Able to commit for at least one year
  • Knowledge of employer recruiting practices and job search strategies
  • Experience in counseling, advising, career services, employment recruiting or other relevant areas
  • Must understand confidentiality requirements and be willing and able to observe them
  • Critical thinking, detail orientation and time management skills are strongly desired
  • High degree of professionalism and ability to represent Graduate Business Programs in a positive manner, through all communications, teamwork, and dress code
  • Strong customer service skills
  • If applicant is a student, then 3.0 GPA is required
