The Office of Research Integrity at Portland State University is responsible for ensuring university compliance with state and federal regulations governing research. This office develops and implements policies and procedures for the university along with helping faculty, graduate and undergraduate students conduct research that meets the highest standards of integrity.

Position Summary

The Research Integrity Administrator is a professional staff member in the centralized administrative unit at Portland State University (PSU) responsible for managing federally required compliance programs related to responsible conduct of research; protection of human subjects; animal care and use; biological safety; export controls; and financial conflict of interest, as well other emerging research compliance areas.

The Research Integrity Administrator utilizes subject matter expertise to perform research compliance program management through policy development, consultation and implementation, and exercises discretion and independent judgment to execute regulatory compliance reviews and determinations for University research conducted in support of the University’s academic mission.

The Research Integrity Administrator serves as a member of the team responsible for issuing compliance and ethics approvals to University PIs for a large volume and diverse portfolio of both sponsored and non-sponsored research, negotiating collaborative agreements and memorandums of understanding with external research partner institutions, and managing multiple research compliance review committees, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and the Financial Conflict of Interest Committee (FCOI).

Minimum Qualifications

- BA/BS with 3+ years of related experience working in Research Integrity.
- General understanding of Research Integrity regulations, best practices and investigations and research ethics.
- Professional experience working with a Risk Analysis process.
- Working knowledge of Performance Improvement processes.
- Demonstrated experience using multiple resources and references to understand complex regulations.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience providing excellent customer service to a variety of audiences.
- Experience with database, spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Experience in drafting policy, procedures and guidance documents for research compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

- Broad knowledge of overall research administration with experience in a University environment;
- Working experience in interpreting regulations and policies making practical application to research activities;
- Professional experience in providing administrative support to faculty committees;
- Experience developing electronic forms and processes using prescribed resources;
- Working experience with formal documentation;
- Working experience with maintaining confidentiality;
- Ability to update webpages;
- Demonstrated reasoning and problem solving skills by making effective decisions and recommendations in the workplace;
- Experience with translating applicable research best practices into user-friendly forms and electronic processes;
-Experience with maintaining organized and accurate databases/information files.

Work Days/Hours M-F, 8 AM - 5 PM
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

The starting annual salary rate for this position will be $50,000-57,000 dependent upon qualifications and experience with an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon University System schools.
