The Fariborz Maseeh Department of Mathematics and Statistics is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and is a premier provider of graduate and undergraduate education and training in Mathematics, Statistics, and Mathematics Education in the Portland metropolitan area.

Position Summary

The Fariborz Maseeh Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for Adjunct Instructors with expertise in Mathematics or Statistics to teach undergraduate courses. Successful applicants will be expected to teach service courses and possibly some core courses, including one or more of the following (see PSU Bulletin for individual course descriptions):

100-200 Level Math Courses:
Elementary/Intermediate Algebra, Excursions in Mathematics, Introductory College Mathematics, Foundations Of Elementary Mathematics, Calculus, Applied Differential Equations, Introduction to Linear Algebra, Mathematical Computing

300 Level Math Courses:
Introduction to Mathematical Reasoning, Introduction to Mathematical Analysis, Advanced Multivariate Calculus, Applied Partial Differential Equations, Vector Analysis, Modern College Geometry, Applied Linear Algebra, Introduction to Group Theory and Applications, Introduction to Ring and Field Theory, Number Theory, Discrete Mathematics

100-200 Level Stat Courses:
Elementary Data Analysis, Application of Statistics for Business, Introduction to Probability and Statistics

300 Level Stat Courses:
Probability and Statistics for Electrical and Computer Engineering, Exploratory Data Analysis and Statistics for Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Introduction to Experimental Design

Minimum Qualifications

M.S. or M.A. in Mathematics or Statistics (or closely related field). Work experience and/or teaching experience aligned with course content may be used in lieu of degree, at the discretion of the department.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics (or closely related field).
Previous teaching experience.

Compensation Adjunct Instructors are paid per credit hour, per the AFT Collective Bargaining Agreement, and are hired on either a per quarter or an academic year basis.
