Portland State’s 49-acre downtown campus is located in the heart of one of America’s most vibrant centers of culture, business and technology. We are recognized throughout the world for programs like Urban Planning, Social Work, and Environmental Studies that directly engage the community, and aim our students towards the creation of a better, more sustainable world.

Transportation and Parking Services is responsible for the management of all university owned parking lots, structures and garages and oversees parking enforcement, parking citation billing and collection, permit distribution, sales and demand management, staffing and management of the parking kiosk booths, and event and guest parking. The department coordinates alternative transportation incentive programs and sells transit instruments to employees, students and the general public. In addition, the department oversees and coordinates the maintenance and modernization of the parking facilities and manages and directs the enforcement of the parking program and its policies.

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to support the Transportation & Parking (TAPS) department’s equipment and software needs. This includes research and testing of new equipment, building and maintaining relationships with vendors, building and maintaining reporting and interface features of various software, and assisting the department’s staff through training and problem solving. This position also assists with general operations of the department and works closely with all TAPS staff.

The goal of TAPS is to provide transportation options and associated services to students, faculty, staff and guests of the university. We emphasize service and assistance while maintaining safe, convenient and sustainable commute options for the PSU community.

Primary Activity A - Administrative
Minimum Qualifications from Classification

This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of equipment and systems that would normally be obtained through an associate of arts degree in electronics or industrial technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or directly related experience.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or related field) OR 5 years relevant IT experience

- Minimum of 3 years experience in application administration and support

-Minimum of 3 years experience in technical equipment and hardware administration and support

- Proven success providing exceptional end-user customer service

- Experience providing formal and informal training (workshops, one-on-one, online, etc.)

- Experience working on structured project implementation including the use of project management tools and techniques

- Proven ability to work in a collaborative, technical, team-driven environment

- Working knowledge of data extraction techniques and reporting methodologies

- Relevant experience working with sensitive/confidential information and proven ability to handle such information as required by Federal, State, and OIT regulations/policies

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience creating and reviewing technical specifications including: project scope, design/implementation plans, configuration and documentation

- Experience in creating training materials (documents, videos, how-to guides, self-service portals, etc.)

- Knowledge of application and database security standards

- Previous experience working in a higher education environment

- Previous experience working in parking or transportation related environment

- Experience supporting cloud-based or hosted solutions

- Experience with parking database and citation management platforms (e.g. T2 Flex)

- Experience configuring data integrations between various applications (e.g. syncing user, attribute, or billing information between an ERP and parking management application; connecting license plate monitoring and access control systems to parking and citation platform)

Environmental Stewardship
Work Days/Hours Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm, with occasional Saturday hours as needed.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

The starting salary rate for this position will be between $19.19 and $25.48 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience, with an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependant at any of the Oregon University System schools.

Pay Range $19.19 and $25.48 per hour
