Position Summary

Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept

The Capital Projects and Construction (CP&C) unit is part of the Office of Planning, Construction & Real Estate. CP&C oversees all renovation and construction projects on campus. Our team works with campus clients on projects from the conception and design phases, through permitting and estimates, and on through bidding, construction, and final occupancy. At CP&C we manage projects of all sizes from painting a room, to an office renovation, to new building construction. We maintain comprehensive collection of building plans, construction records, campus maps, and construction related studies and reports. Capital Projects and Construction also fabricates, permits, and installs a variety of campus signage; including wayfinding, ADA signs, office location signs, campus maps, and contracted specialty signs. Our mission is “to design and build a modern, sustainable campus that complements our students learning experience and reinforces the academic mission.

Position Summary

The Temporary Construction Electrician will plan, install and maintain electrical and low voltage systems, while providing excellent end user customer service to PSU clients.

This temporary assignment will be for approximately six months from the start date.

Primary Activity A - Administrative
Minimum Qualifications from Classification

Possession of one of the following Oregon Electricians Licenses appropriate to the work to be performed:

-General Supervising Electrician License

-General Journeyman Electrician License

-Limited Journey Manufacturing Plant License

-Limited Supervising Manufacturing Plant License

Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position

*Valid state-issued driver’s license.
*Oregon journeyman electrician’s license.
*Knowledge of electrical installation, maintenance and repair practices.
*Knowledge and application of safety practices while performing work.
*Knowledge of industry best practices in performing electrical work.
*Knowledge of medium and low voltage applications in a commercial setting.
*Skill in using manual and power tools to perform work.
*Proven ability to perform work in a professional customer service manner and with consideration for the needs of the campus faculty, staff and students.
*Proven ability to perform work with, and collaborate with, the university’s diverse community, general public visiting campus, and within PCRE teams.
*Proven ability to perform the physical requirements of the job as mentioned in Working Conditions above.
*Proven self motivated, construction professional, with the ability to remain focus and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

*Institutional and commercial background.
*CPR, scissor lift, boom lift, forklift training.
*Hazardous materials awareness training.
*OSHA 10 hour and/or OSHA 30 construction safety certificatation.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

The starting salary rate for this position will be $31.57 per hour.

This is not a benefits eligible position

Pay Range $31.57 per hour

Special working conditions:
Ability to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm movements.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to stoop, bend, lift, push, and carry items on a daily basis.
Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to frequently lift up to 20 pounds overhead. Ability and licensing to use a
motorized vehicle on public right of way and city streets.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and/or weekends.
Construction locations may include hazardous materials such as, lead chemicals, pesticides, asbestos, ability to work safely in
these conditions.
Ability to provide excellent Customer service to end users in a construction environment.
Exposure to inclement weather conditions. Occasional high work from scaffolds, swing stages, lift trucks, and extension
Other duties as assigned; may include snow and water removal or other weather or natural damage to campus.

Construction environments include interiors, both finished and unfinished spaces and exteriors.

Expected work hours are 6:00am to 4:40pm Monday to Thursday.
