Position Summary

Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept

The School and the accounting program are AACSB-accredited. The Accounting Area offers an undergraduate option in accounting, a post-baccalaureate certificate in accounting, and starting Fall 2017 a Masters of Taxation (MT). The MT will be offered utilizing a hybrid delivery method. Building upon the strength of the accounting program is a key strategic initiative of the School. The School has a strong commitment to both research and teaching. We offer a stimulating, collegial environment that values a diversity of research approaches and topics, and supports research efforts through the provision of graduate assistantships, travel funds, summer support, and a teaching load conducive to effective scholarship.

The university is located amidst the cultural and business center of downtown Portland. Position Summary

Portland State University’s School of Business Administration invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Accounting effective September 16, 2018. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree with an emphasis in accounting from an AACSB accredited institution, a JD/LLM in Taxation, or a JD/Masters of Taxation, and have recent experience teaching Taxation with evidence of high quality teaching effectiveness. Advanced ABD candidates will be considered but must possess a doctoral degree by August 15, 2018. Successful candidates must show evidence or promise of a strong and ongoing program of research in tax-related areas appropriate to their appropriate to their career stage. Expectations for this position include publishing appropriate area-related research in high-quality refereed outlets or highly ranked legal publications, and developing and teaching courses in taxation primarily at the graduate level and online, as needed by the School. Preference will be given to applicants whose research is complementary with that of existing faculty, who have online teaching experience teaching in a Masters of Taxation program, tax work experience and appropriate professional certification. Salary is competitive and subject to the applicant’s qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants whose research is complementary with that of existing faculty, who have on-line teaching experience, tax work experience and appropriate professional certification.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

The starting annual salary rate for this position will be dependent upon qualifications and experience with an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.
