Position Summary

The Fiscal Coordinator will provide fiscal and administrative support to the Dean’s Office, with the joint OHSU-PSU School of Public Health (JPH), and to assist PSU/OHSU departments within the School in areas requiring fiscal and/or administrative support in the areas of accounting, grant administration, financial reporting, business procedures, and budgeting.

This position reports to the JPH Associate Dean for Finance and Administration and has a 50/50 split of job duties for both OHSU and PSU budgets.

Primary Activity A - Administrative
Minimum Qualifications from Classification

A Bachelor’s degree with 24 quarter (16 semester) hours of accounting courses and two years of accounting experience*; OR

A CPA or PA certificate AND two years of accounting experience*; OR

24 quarter (16 semester) or 240 clock hours of accounting courses and three years of accounting experience*.

*Accounting experience MUST include at least 6 of the following:

  • documenting and resolving problems within an accounting system;
  • classifying revenues and expenditures to funds and accounts;
  • ensuring accounting system conforms with applicable controls;
  • reconciling accounts to general or control ledgers;
  • preparing journal vouchers;
  • applying accounting principles to one or more functional areas; i.e., AR, AP, etc.,:
  • tracing errors through accounting system;
  • processing data using a computer;
  • communicating technical material orally and in writing;
  • applying computer report information;
  • knowledge of governmental and fund accounting;
  • applying PC spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.

All courses must be from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.

Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position

Bachelor’s degree in business related field such as finance or accounting.

Intermediate level of expertise using Excel.

Experience with querying, downloading and manipulating data from a data warehouse.

Minimum 5 years related work experience.

Successful completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in higher education.

Experience working with Banner or other enterprise-wide software.

Experience using IBM Cognos software.

Understanding of fund accounting.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

The starting salary rate for this position will be between $20.90 and $25.22 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience, with an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.
